What to do if your Apple Card gets lost or stolen?

Aside from the convenience of having a card that seamlessly integrates with your Apple device’s Wallet app, many people covet an Apple Card because of its numerous perks — including dropping the usual fees and interest rates associated with most credit cards.

As with any other credit card, losing your Apple Card is a terrible inconvenience. Fortunately, the Apple Card uses advanced security features that let you quickly freeze them in the event that you lose them. What’s more? Requesting a replacement card is very easy.

In this article, I’ve explained what you should do if your Apple Card gets lost or stolen.

How to manage your Apple Card if you lost your iPhone

  • If you have an old iPhone stashed somewhere, or probably an old iPad or iPod, you can still access your Apple Card account controls on your old devices, given that you’re using the same Apple ID on all your devices.
  • You can still view your transactions, contact support, pay bills, and lock your physical card using your old devices.
  • Alternatively, you can access card.apple.com and log in with your Apple ID—the same one your Apple Card is linked to.
    • This gives you access to your balance and statements. It also lets you manage your linked bank accounts and contact customer support so you can head to this website to lock your card and request a new card sans an iOS device.
  • If all else fails, calling Customer Support can help manage your account. They’ll more likely be able to do actions like suspend your bill and other account management actions.

FAQs

Can I still use Apple Pay if my card is lost or stolen?

Yes. As long as you have your device where the card is linked, you can still use your card. But if you report your card as lost or stolen, the issuer will likely immediately suspend your old card for security purposes. However, the card issuer may soon provide you with your replacement card details in your Apple Wallet so you can continue making purchases and transactions while waiting for your replacement card to arrive.

Does Apple replace Apple Card for free?

You don’t have to pay a fee for a replacement Apple Card.

Can someone use Apple Pay on a stolen iPhone?

Apple Pay transactions need a person to authenticate using a Face ID, Touch ID, or the device’s passcode. Using a stolen iPhone’s Apple Pay isn’t possible unless the person knows the owner’s passcode.

Wrapping up…

Losing or having your Apple card stolen requires swift action to protect yourself from unauthorized use. Make sure to lock and replace your card immediately, whether you’re using an iOS device, through customer support, or over the web.
