You might get little or no likes on your Facebook posts if you’re only starting with it or your business page is new. Unfortunately, the higher the engagement, the more people get interested in your post. To avoid putting off your potential clients and followers, you might want to hide the number of likes on your Facebook posts or page since they might be small for starters.
That way, people tend to focus more on your value rather than your engagement volume. This connection-building strategy works for many Facebook influencers. Besides, it’s one of the ways to reduce your digital footprint. In this article, I’ll show you how to hide the likes on your Facebook business page and posts.
How to hide likes on your posts in Facebook on iPhone or Android
When you hide the likes on your Facebook posts, people won’t see the number of likes on them. This count is only visible to you.
However, according to Facebook, this setting applies generally to your public posts. There is no such setting for individual posts. Additionally, people can still see the like count on posts you share on marketplaces, groups, pages, events, and stories.
Hide reactions to your posts via Facebook app
- Open the Facebook app on your iPhone or Android.
- Tap your profile icon at the bottom right.
- Scroll down and select Settings & Privacy → Settings.
- Tap Profile Settings towards the top left.
- Scroll to the Feed Settings section and tap Reaction preferences.
- Toggle on the On your posts switch to prevent others from seeing the reactions to your Facebook posts.
Hide reactions on your Facebook posts via a desktop web browser
- Click the profile icon at the top right.
- Go to Settings & privacy → Settings.
- From the left sidebar, select Privacy.
- Next, click Reaction preferences.
- Toggle on the switch to the right of On your posts.
How to hide the pages you’ve liked on Facebook
If you’re a top voice or brand, you might also prevent others from seeing the pages you’ve liked. This can be handy for keeping other businesses or potential partners from thinking you’re biased. It’s also helpful for masking your hobbies and preferences from potential threat actors.
This option is only available on the Facebook website. So you have to access Facebook via a web browser to change it.
- Log in to your Facebook account from any browser (preferably from a desktop).
- Click the profile icon at the top left (in the left sidebar) to open your profile.
If it’s a Facebook page: You can switch to your page by clicking your profile icon at the top right → See all profiles. Then select your page. - Click More → Likes.
- Click the three horizontal dots in the Likes section (to the right of Likes).
- Select the Hide Section option.
Tip: You can also choose the categories of liked pages you want people to see by clicking Edit the Privacy of Your Likes.
How to unhide the pages you’ve liked
If you ever decide to change this setting and unhide the liked pages:
- Click the More dropdown → Manage Sections.
- Put a checkmark on Likes. Then click Save. Your liked pages section will be visible to the public again.
Winding up…
Internet privacy is now essential to most people since your online activities can be leaked to the public via social media, browsers, apps, and other means. Masking the reactions to your post prevents people from seeing those who liked your posts. So potential threat actors can’t see or track those interested in you or your brand.
