Save photos as PDF on iPhone and iPad using the Files app

Files lets you quickly create PDFs. However, the photo must be saved under Files. So, if you already have images here, continue with the following steps. If they are in Drive, Dropbox, One Drive, etc. you can see how to enable these third-party cloud services inside Files.

Or, to copy the pictures from Photos to Files: Select the images inside Photos → tap Share button → Save to Files.

Once that’s out of the way, here are the steps to create a PDF from Photos on the iPhone.

  1. Open Files and locate the image.
  2. To convert a single image into a PDF: Long press on the image and choose Create PDF.

Ways to convert Photo to PDF on iPhone

We hope this guide helped you convert photos to PDF on your iPhone or iPad. All three methods are equally viable, but my favorite one involves using the Books app. With this method, the PDF is created quickly and safely saved there for future use.

You can also use third-party apps like PDF Expert (image to PDF conversion is a Pro feature).

  1. None of this works. I look in Files on my iPhone and long press and it doesn’t have a convert to PDF option.

    1. Go to Photos and select the picture(s) you want a PDF of. Save the pic(s) to Files by tapping Share > Save to Files. Make sure you save it to “on my iPhone”. Then, head to Files, and do not tap to open the picture. Tap and Hold on the image thumbnail in Files, and the last option in the drop down list is “Create PDF”.
Remember, you shouldn’t expand the image in Files.

Alternatively, just share the photo(s) to your Books app and it’ll immediately create a saveable/shareable PDF. If absolutely nothing else works, send your photo from your phone to your computer and turn the pic to a PDF online.

  2. Thank you for the very simple to follow directions! Helped save me money from having to download an app that I can do the same thing for free.

  3. Where is the PDF created through Books this way? Are they in any way related with the Files app storage iniCloud?

  4. The PDF has stored in the Books app. And though it’s not related to the Files app, it will use iCloud storage.

  5. Finally,

An actual true way to create PDFs on an iPhone for free. Instead of downloading those rip-off apps that charge monthly fees

Thank you so much for this!
